SQUAD BINGO
Squad Bingo is a fairly new development in the game, and involves bingo enthusiasts playing as team members as well as individuals. Squad bingo competitions are not held at every bingo club by any means, but there are a few that have started the ball rolling (if you play online, take a look at Foxy Bingo for an example of one that does) and we expect this concept to catch on quickly.
Whilst the rules and regulations of Squad bingo games vary from place to place, the general principles are as follows :
- A player invites a small number of friends to form a Squad. This Squad is given a name and that name, along with the names of the Squad members, is registered with the bingo club. In many clubs staging Squad bingo events, if you don't have friends to invite you can ask the club to put you into a team directly.
- Squad members play bingo as usual, and usually get to keep any prize money that they win along the way. Then, at the end of a specified period (often every month) the number of qualifying wins that each Squad member has had is totaled. Qualifying wins are wins in games that are counted under the rules of the competition. Some rules only count win of a certain type (for example, a full house in the 90 ball game) and some only count those that occur between certain hours. Be sure to check the terms and conditions of the team competition before you begin to avoid disappointment.
- When all of the Squad wins have been totaled up, prizes are awarded to the winning Squad and usually to a few of the runners up too. The prizes could be in the form of cash, bingo points (which can usually be converted into cash) or tangible rewards.
One of the main advantages of participating in Squad bingo is that it is something that enriches the social aspect of the game. You and your Squad members are all working towards a common goal, and you will therefore take delight in wins no matter who gets them.
